What the salts & chelates do

Potassium nitrate (KNO₃)

Your main nitrogen source (as nitrate) — and it supplies a big chunk of your potassium too.

Monopotassium phosphate (KH₂PO₄)

Phosphorus (phosphate). You use tiny amounts, so a small bag lasts years.

Potassium sulphate (K₂SO₄)

Tops up potassium beyond what the nitrate and phosphate salts already give.

Epsom salt (MgSO₄·7H₂O)

Magnesium, a plant nutrient. Mainly for soft / RO water — hard water usually has plenty already.

CSM+B trace mix

Your all-in-one micronutrients — iron plus manganese, boron, zinc, copper and molybdenum. This is the “trace” bottle.

Calcium salts (CaCl₂, gypsum)

Calcium for soft water. Dosed dry at a water change — it clouds a concentrated bottle.

Iron and the other micros are usually chelated — wrapped in a molecular “cage” that keeps them dissolved and available to plants instead of precipitating out. The chelate sets how high a pH it survives: EDTA to about pH 6.5, DTPA to ~7.5, EDDHA to ~9. Most trace mixes (CSM+B included) use EDTA/DTPA, which is fine for soft-to-neutral water; in hard, alkaline tanks an EDDHA iron holds far better.
